Chief Rabbi of Israel Rabbi David Lau participated this afternoon, Sunday, in the business conference of the “Hamodia” newspaper, where he rejected accusations against the Chief Rabbinate over the Conversion Law and Kotel (Western Wall) Plan.
“In the last two weeks, we heard statements whereby American Jewry is breaking away from us.”
Rabbi Lau said that the Rabbinate was not responsible for a break in ties. “85 percent of them have not even been to Israel. To say that we are depriving them is completely false.”
“Whoever wants to pray at the Kotel is free to do so. But they’re not coming to pray - they’re not coming at all,” the Rabbi asserted, and addressed the issue of assimilation among both US Jewry and Israelis living abroad. “There needs to be some people in the Jewish community who know a minimal amount about [Jewish] tradition.”
“A rift with American Jewry - it’s false," Rabbi Lau said. He specifically addressed the issue of the Conversion Law, and came out against short "summer camps" at the end of which participants come out "converted."
Netanyahu prevents the beginning of an Israeli Constitution and Amendments because he has Power without it! Next there will be an amendment to free AMERICANS "DETAINED" by the Welfare Minister and free them so they can return to the United States. If I was Trump Israel would get ZERO help from US until Americans are freed.

NETANYAHU BLOCKS BILL TO PREVENT DIVISION OF JERUSALEM
The proposal would require 80 lawmakers to approve any attempt to retreat from Israeli sovereignty in any part of the capital.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu blocked controversial legislation that would make it nearly impossible to divide Jerusalem ahead of a planned vote on Sunday.
The Prime Minister's Office said that the reason was that Netanyahu wanted the coalition to reach a consensus on what the bill would look like rather than use a version put forward by Education Minister Naftali Bennett's Bayit Yehudi party.
In addition, the PMO pointed out that there is a Jerusalem Affairs Minister, Ze’ev Elkin, who has the right to be involved in the legislation.
The bill in question would require a vote of 80 MKs to approve the concession of any part of Jerusalem. Currently, a simple majority, meaning 61 MKs, is necessary.
The coalition agreement states that Basic Laws, which are meant to form an eventual constitution, and amendments to them, like this bill, may only be put forward with approval from all coalition parties. Coalition agreements are often flouted, but tend to be cited as a reason for coalition members to block other parties’ proposals.
Bennett said the bill sets a very high bar for dividing Jerusalem, saying that “twice in the last 15 years, we were a hair’s-breadth away from giving away the Temple Mount, Mount of Olives, City of David and three-quarters of the old city to the Palestinians, in the time of [former prime ministers Ehud] Barak and [Ehud] Olmert.
“Netanyahu blocked the legislative process, but we are determined to pass it in three readings, and I’m sure we can unite around the bill and Jerusalem,” he added.
A Bayit Yehudi spokeswoman accused Netanyahu of being all talk.
“Jerusalem is united through actions, not speeches,” she said. “It’s unfortunate that narrow political issues came before preventing the division of Jerusalem.”
The Likud retorted that Bayit Yehudi was trying to steal credit, and that a bill related to Jerusalem cannot be proposed without coordinating with Elkin.
“Bayit Yehudi knows well that Prime Minister Netanyahu supports the bill; he already supported it in 2007,” a party spokesman said. “Instead of reaching agreements through cooperation, Bayit Yehudi wants to deal in petty politics. The Likud is committed to Jerusalem always staying united under Israeli sovereignty, and we won’t be dragged into Bennett and Shaked’s kindergarten; instead, we’ll support the bill together with our coalition partners.”
In a related development, coalition chairman David Bitan of the Likud blocked another right-wing bill, which would require the government to follow through on promises to build homes to replace ones that it demolished.
The bill was proposed by Land of Israel Caucus chairman Yoav Kisch (Likud) and Bezalel Smotrich (Bayit Yehudi) in response to the lack of tenders for 300 homes in Bet El that Netanyahu pledged five years ago to market by September.
Kisch’s spokesman said that Bitan removed the bill from the Ministerial Committee for Legislation’s agenda without consulting with him or giving any explanation.

The harrowing claims, which in some cases appear to be true, seemed to be indicative of lax medical oversight and permissive legislation and not systematic, malicious and criminal experimentation that some media reports tried to suggest. The Knesset committee reevaluated the evidence, expressing dismay, but made no calls for further action.
The documents alleging medical experimentation on the new immigrants from Yemen were gathered in 1996-1997 by a Knesset-appointed investigative commission tasked with probing the disappearance of over 1,000 children in the so-called abducted Yemenite children affair.
Reexamined by Israeli lawmakers, they were catapulted into the headlines on Thursday when the Israel Hayom daily published the claims on its front page. The story was featured alongside what the newspaper said were newly released photos of Yemenite children, one of which has the word “spleen” written in marker over the child’s organs. It wasn’t immediately clear where the jarring images were from and what became of the children pictured.
The claims that doctors used Yemenite Jewish blood cells to test for sickle cell anemia and African ancestry appeared to be corroborated by a November 1952 article published in The Lancet medical journal. At the time, Israeli law did not appear to require consent for such a procedure.
The allegations that hearts were removed from the bodies of Yemenite Jews for research purposes were backed up by a pathologist in 1997, but the medical professional did not work at the hospital where the operations allegedly took place and the original report sourced was described as “entirely unconfirmed.”

Since the 1950s, over 1,000 families — mostly immigrants from Yemen, but also dozens from the Balkans, North Africa and other Middle Eastern countries — have alleged their children were systematically kidnapped from Israeli hospitals and put up for adoption, sometimes abroad.
Disputed by scholars and seemingly refuted by probes, the case has kept resurfacing, not least because most of the families were not given their children’s bodies or informed of their burial places. Furthermore, death certificates were riddled with errors, and most of the missing children were sent army draft notices 18 years after their alleged deaths. There have also been cases where adopted children were able to confirm, through paternity tests, that they were from Yemenite families who were told they had died.
The state archives declassified 400,000 documents on the affair in December 2016, but the long-simmering controversy is far from being resolved as the families have rejected the findings of successive investigations, and advocacy groups representing the families continue to step up pressure for further probes.

Wednesday’s Knesset meeting was based on the 1995 testimony of Dr. George Mendel of the Hadassah Hospital in Rosh Haayin, who described how Professor Fritz Dreyfuss, a doctor of internal medicine, conducted a study with a team of international doctors on the Yemenite children for traces of sickle cell anemia, common among African Americans.
“One day there was a visit in Rosh Ha’ayin with a group of doctors from abroad. There was a well-known man named Professor Damascus… He looked at the Yemenites and thought they must have Negro blood and that perhaps they have the blood disease called sickle-cell anemia,” Mendel told the investigation panel 22 years ago. “He said: Why not check it. He drafted students and sent them to Rosh Ha’ayin and they would evaluate the blood samples that we took for malaria tests. They took another sample simultaneously and checked it.”
Mendel stressed that the blood samples were not taken solely for research purposes, saying they were drawn “only from those who came for a check-up,” children and adults alike.
The team discovered some sickle cell traces in a few children, he said. “Professor Dreyfuss was excited and he wrote a paper in one of the medical journals,” he added.
However, the theory was entirely refuted by British expert Hermann Lehmann who had more advanced hemoglobin testing methods, Mendel said, prompting Dreyfuss to retract his earlier article.
“And they already told the Yemenites they had negro blood!” he added.
An article co-authored by Dreyfuss and Lehmann, as well as two other London researchers, was published in The Lancet in the winter of 1952, under the title “An investigation of blood groups and a search for sickle cell trait in Yemenite Jews.”
Mendel repeated the same story in his testimony to the Kedmi-Cohen commission a year later. It was not clear from his testimony whether the patients knew their blood was being tested.
A second document, from 1997, saw commission investigator Yosef Yosefov query Rambam Hospital pathologist Dr. Baruch Gali on whether hearts were removed from the bodies of Yemenite patients for a study funded by the United States.
“When I approached Prof. Gali, I had information that was entirely unconfirmed, on the existence of a fund… by the [US] National Institute of Health (NIH) which in 1955 or before gave a pathology center in an Israeli hospital, the name of which I do not know, a sum of 160,000 liras (a huge amount at the time) to fund research on the heart function of Yemenites to determine if and why in Yemen, there was no heart disease, and for this purpose to study the structure of the coronary arteries,” Yosefov wrote in a report. “In practice, I was told that for this purpose 60 hearts were gathered and dissected (post-mortem) from the age of 42 weeks to 42 years old and that certain conclusions were drawn.”

“Professor Gali confirmed to me that ‘there was something like this’ — research on atherosclerosis and that he thinks that it was in the Tel Hashomer hospital,” he wrote.
“Professor Gali also told me about similar studies on Yemenites on the scarcity of diabetes etc. but he didn’t know if this was also studied in the Tel Hashomer pathology department,” he added.
Biological waste’
In his 1995 testimony, Mendel said autopsies were only performed when the cause of death was unclear, mostly in cases of pneumonia. The procedure did not require the consent of the families, but rather the signature of three doctors was sufficient.
During the Knesset committee meeting on Wednesday, researcher Eli Lipstein disputed that claim, saying “nearly all” underwent post-mortem examinations under “horrific” conditions, including “over a sink near a bathroom.”
“Until a few weeks old, they [the Yemenite children] were treated as biological waste,” he said.
Meir Broder, an attorney from the Health Ministry’s legal department, said that while the practice was contemptible, the law in Israel at the time favored autopsies for all.

The law passed in 1953 and since changed considerably was “radical in its permissiveness,” Broder said. “The goal was to allow autopsies in order to allow for medical research, and as part of opening the Jerusalem medical school.”
At the time, he said if a body was not claimed within 24 hours it was automatically transferred to the medical school and did not require the hospitals to locate the families.
Many of the autopsies took place even before the 1953 law was passed, he added.
In most cases, the Yemenite families were informed their children had died but were not permitted by hospital staff to see the bodies or arrange a funeral, and were not even informed of the burial place, significantly fueling the sense the children had not really died but were rather abducted.
Following Wednesday’s Knesset meeting, and the high-profile news coverage of the testimonies, the Israeli office of Physicians for Human Rights issued a statement calling for a public apology.
“Now, when we learn from the doctors working at the time that on top of the kidnapping crimes there were experiments carried out in a criminal manner, in violation of ethical rules — and to remind you the Nuremberg Code was already written and clear — will the medical community in all of its institutions admit to its crimes, apologize sincerely and work toward recognition and awareness of the dangers inherent in its activities?” it said in a statement. “The medical community must not only apologize for what its medical staff did, but for the cover-ups, denials, and the degrading treatment toward the families’ claims.” ***JDC stands for Jewish Detention Camps These are for the "DETENTED" AMERICAN JEWISH CHILDREN now
The only reason Netanyahu is trying to calm US Jewry down is because he knows where his money is coming from. He'll say anything to:
1. Bring money to Israel.
2. Detain American Jews in Israel and claim the population increased and then steal the money they have in US bank accounts with laws that are not legal even in the Muslim Countries under Sharia.
3 He'll make promises he can not keep to make American Jews think they are welcomed in Israel just for the money.
4 The area where they want to put the "rest" of the Jews, the American Conservatives and Reforms as well as the Christian "Zionists", Messianics, etc, all those who give money to Israel in a bike parking area not even close to the Kotel. This is considered to be an unholy area built to support the ramp leading to the upper floor where the Muslim Mosques are. It is not an original part of the Kotel. They have souvenir and food venders there.
5. We want our detained Americans including their Children back on American soil and he denies they are even in Israel. Child abuse as well as human trafficking and child prostitution is not illegal in Israel.
Netanyahu trying to calm US Jewry
Cabinet Secretary Tzachi Braverman and Attorney Ronen Peretz arrive today to the southern complex at Robinson's Arch to assess improvements.
Prime Minister Netanyahu is trying to calm the waters of the crisis this week as a result of the cancellation of the Kotel Plan.
Within this context, his representatives are assessing how to accelerate improvements of the southern Kotel area known as "Israel's Area."
Cabinet Secretary Tzachi Braverman and Attorney Ronen Peretz arrived today to the southern Kotel complex at Robinson's Arch to assess ways of upgrading it.
On Tuesday, Braverman had spoken about the Government's decision regarding the Western Wall deal, GPO reported.
"It is important to Prime Minister Netanyahu that every Jew is able to pray at the Western Wall," Braverman said. "Therefore, alongside yesterday's decision he issued three directives that have gone unnoticed."
"First, the Prime Minister instructed that work to prepare the southern plaza be expedited so that Jews from all streams may pray at the Western Wall.
"Second, that Jews from all streams be able to continue praying there – as they are able to do today.
"Third, the Prime Minister instructed Regional Cooperation Minister Tzachi Hanegbi (Likud) and me to continue dialogue with the various parties in order to try and reach a solution.
"I recommend that those trying to exploit this issue stick with precise facts."
Before these past few weeks I was 100% for Israel. I thought of Bibi Netanyahu as being a friend of Jews all over the world. And then came the American Children who have been detained because their fathers refused to marry women or that the laws in Israel is 100% for the Welfare system as well as the Caseworkers or the Social Workers. I thought the money I collected for Israel, the hats I knitted for the IDF, and the money I gave for the elderly and the children gave me security if anything would happen in the United States I have a ancient homeland I can go to and be welcomed. I found one person who said he worked for the Donald Trump to have the same business as those who have been caught up in Lynn Schusterman's SOS villages and the WIZOA to be in the same business as drawing money from the Conservative Jews as well as the Reform Jews for the safety of the American Jewish children a fraud. I thought a lot and was told "OH Bibi would never allow this". But this is what Bibi thinks of us stupid American Conservative and Reform Jews. Just send the money. You are not part of Israel . On Sunday, the prime minister of the world’s only
Jewish state made clear to many millions of them:
Israel really doesn’t want you.
Benjamin Netanyahu would never put it in such blunt terms, of course. And doubtless he will expend considerable rhetorical energy in the near future insisting that it is not the case.
But his minister of health, Yaakov Litzman, leader of the United Torah Judaism party, has no Jewish realpolitik imperative to mince his words. In the boastful language of victory, after the Netanyahu-led cabinet decided on Sunday to halt the establishment of a permanent, official, pluralistic prayer section at the Western Wall (as opposed to the current temporary area), Litzman declared triumphantly: “The government’s decision to freeze the Western Wall arrangement sends a clear message to the entire world: The Reform do not and will not have access or recognition at the Western Wall.”
For the ultra-Orthodox, the non-Orthodox streams of Judaism are among the most bitter of foes. Jews who just don’t care are no threat to their ultra-narrow interpretation of our faith, and, who knows, may yet be drawn to their version of it. But the Reform Jews, and the Conservative Jews — they have their own ways of observance. More open. More egalitarian. More questioning. Much more threatening. “Even though the Nazis and the Reform Jews tried to destroy us…,” an ultra-Orthodox relative of mine once remarked in a speech at a family event. He wasn’t trying to be provocative, which almost made it worse. He was unthinkingly parroting received wisdom in much of his community.
The prime minister, personally, is no ultra-Orthodox zealot. The prime minister, politically, however, has quite evidently decided that his future depends on keeping the coalition’s two ultra-Orthodox parties happy.
In a November 2015 address in Washington to the leadership of the Jewish community in North America, where millions identify with non-Orthodox Judaism, Netanyahu promised: “As prime minister of Israel, I will always ensure that all Jews can feel at home in Israel, Reform Jews, Conservative Jews, Orthodox Jews.” Specifically, he told the thousands at the Jewish Federations’ annual General Assembly, he hoped his government would soon reach the “long overdue understanding that will ensure that the Kotel [Western Wall] will be a source of unity for the Jewish people, not a point of division.”
How they applauded.
How cheated and betrayed they must feel now.
Litzman’s UTJ holds precisely six seats in the 120-member Knesset. The second ultra-Orthodox party, Shas, has seven. On Sunday, for the sake of those 13, Netanyahu struck a blow to the heart and soul of millions of Jews worldwide.
His decision is both short-sighted and fraught with long-term danger. Some critics rushed to call it a divorce from the Diaspora. If it’s not quite that, because the damage is not yet irrevocable, it is certainly the sign of a marriage in deep trouble.
Israel needs all the friends it can get. And it should be doing everything it can to avoid alienating its core supporters, its own flesh and blood. Non-Orthodox Jews, in Israel and abroad, emphatically do not agree with everything that the Jewish state does, but the arguments, and the passion, reflect the connectedness of the global Jewish family.
I happened to be moderating a panel of Knesset members on Sunday morning in Jerusalem at the opening session of the Jewish Agency’s Board of Governors’ meeting. Most of that audience have spent much of their lives doing everything they can to help the State of Israel survive and flourish; many in that audience identify with non-Orthodox Judaism, and represent millions more like them. Hours later, when the cabinet decision was announced, I’ll wager most of them felt more sorrow than anger — sorrow at the damage to the Jewish unity we should be striving to maintain and deepen.
The Jewish state is beset by external threats. We can and must defend ourselves against them. We can’t always resolve them. On Channel 2 news on Sunday night, the main item was about the Syrian civil war, as it threatens, afresh, to draw in Israel. On Friday, we watched as millions of Iranians marched in support of Israel’s destruction. In Lebanon that same day, Hezbollah’s leader vowed that the next conflict he drags us into will involve “hundreds of thousands” of fighters from across the Muslim world. Two days earlier, the Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, with whom we would like to make peace, again dismissed an American demand that he stop paying salaries to terrorists who kill Israelis.
By contrast, we should be able to resolve intra-Jewish challenges by ourselves. When it comes to the so-called Orthodox-secular divide, we should be able to find ways to ensure both that Jewish scholarship flourishes in the Jewish state, and that the rights and burdens of physically protecting the country are shared fairly. Similarly, we should be able to muster the wisdom to give all Jews, however they connect to our shared faith, a genuine sense of stake in the national homeland of the Jewish people.
At the spiritual and emblematic heart of that revived national homeland is the Western Wall. And the irony of Sunday’s self-defeating decision is that the now-frozen “compromise” plan wasn’t really a compromise at all. It did not affect arrangements at what most people think is the Western Wall, the section where men and women pray separately, and where the ultra-Orthodox rabbinate maintains complete control. The idea was that those who like to pray without those constraints would be able to do so elsewhere, a short distance away, at a properly prepared pavilion (as opposed to the current, temporary arrangement) under joint oversight involving all major streams of Judaism. A case of live and let live, pray and let pray.
But even that Solomonic solution, earnestly perfected over years of painstaking negotiation by people with the best interests of world Jewry at heart, was evidently too threatening for the ultra-Orthodox leadership. And Israel’s Diaspora-savvy prime minister, in capitulating to their narrow-minded demands against his better judgment, showed that survival in office now even takes precedence over the deepest sensibilities of the global Jewish nation he aspires to lead.
The third paragraph and penultimate paragraph of this article were edited on June 26 to clarify the nature of the now-frozen plan for the pluralistic prayer facility at the Wall.
So my question fellow supporters of Israel should we continue to give money to Israel and not be welcomed. Should we now demand our children to be returned to the United States? That is the question you have to decided on.
