1. Anthony Johnson. He is rumored to have been the first black man to arrive in Virginia as well as the first black indentured servant in America. He was also the first black man to gain his freedom and the first to own land. As a true pioneer of firsts, Johnson couldn’t stop there. Ironically, he became the first black slave owner, and it was his court case that solidified slavery in America.
In 1635, Johnson was freed and given a 250-acre plantation where he was master over both black and white servants. In 1654, Johnson sued his neighbor in a case that would change America’s history forever. Johnson’s servant, John Casor, claimed he was an indentured servant who had worked several years past the terms of his indenture for Johnson and was now working for Johnson’s neighbor, Parker. Johnson sued Parker, stated that Casor was his servant “in perpetuity,” and the courts ruled in his favor. Casor had to return to Johnson, and the case established the principle in America that one person is able to own another person for the rest of their life.
2. In 1862, William Ellison was one of the largest slave owners in South Carolina as well as one of the wealthiest. He was born a slave and was given the name April, after the month in which he was born. He was luckier than most and was bought by a white slave owner named William Ellison, who took the time to educate him. When he was 26 years old, he was freed by his master and began building his expansive cotton plantation. As a free man, he had his name changed to William Ellison, that of his former owner.
What makes Ellison so despicable and earns him the number-two spot on this list is how he collected his wealth. Ellison was known to have made a large proportion of his money as a “slave breeder.” Breeding slaves was illegal in many Southern states, but Ellison secretly sold almost all females born, keeping a select few for future breeding. He kept many of the young males, as they were considered useful on his plantation. Ellison was known to be a harsh master, and his slaves were almost starved and extremely poorly clothed. He kept a windowless building on his property for the specific purpose of chaining his misbehaving slaves.
3. Antoine Dubuclet was born a free man to free parents and inherited a large sugar plantation called Cedar Grove from his father. Under his father, the plantation was small and contained only a few slaves. Under Antoine’s leadership, it grew, and by 1860, he owned over 100 slaves and had one of the largest sugar plantations in Louisiana. He was extremely wealthy, even more so than any of his white neighbors. His plantation was worth $264,000, while the average income of his neighbors in the South was only around $3,978.
After marrying a wealthy black woman, his lands expanded, and after her death, Dubuclet was considered the wealthiest black slave owner in Louisiana. He was elected and served as state treasurer during the Reconstruction Era, one of the only black men to hold the office for more than one term.
4. Marie Metoyer was living in the Kingdom of Kongo when she met her future husband, who fell deeply in love with her. In a time whereinterracial marriagewas considered wrong and immoral, Marie married a white Frenchman named Claude Metoyer and moved to Louisiana with him and their children. Because their marriage was not approved of by society, Marie technically remained a slave to her husband. Years later and after six children, Marie was finally freed, and she and her husband divorced. Claude left to France, where he married a French woman. Marie wasn’t left with nothing, however, and started a plantation that initially dealt in tobacco.
Under Marie’s leadership, the Metoyer family prospered, and the plantation grew. Eventually, they owned more slaves than any other family in their county, with the number being reported at 287 by 1830. There isn’t much evidence of harsh treatment to their own slaves, but the Metoyers were notorious for buying extra slaves to do the hardest tasks on the plantation and then returning them after the work was finished. This prevented them from having their own slaves do the dirty work.
5. During the 1730s, the Pendarvis family was one of the most prominent in the South, owning the biggest rice plantations in the Palmetto region and over 123 slaves. They dominated Colleton County (now the Charleston area) and became one of the wealthiest slaveholding families in South Carolina.
What is ironic is that this family of wealthy black slave owners was given their wealth accidentally when a will was created that gave the estate of Joseph Pendarvis to his illegitimate children with his slave, Parthena. Despite the family’s own origins, all Pendarvis estates continued to use slave labor as they took over the Palmetto State.
6. Widow C. Richards And Son P.C. Richards In 1860, slave owners, white or black, owned around one to five slaves on average. About 28 percent of the free black population in New Orleans at the time owned slaves, with at least six owning 65 or more.
C. Richards and her son P.C. go above and beyond these other six slave owners by owning over twice as many. The widow and her son operated a large sugar plantation together and owned more slaves than all other black slave owners in Louisiana in 1860, topping off at 152
7. Justus Angel and Mistress L. Horry were wealthy black masters who each owned 84 slaves, or 168 together. They were located in Colleton District (now Charleston County) in South Carolina in 1830. Because most slave owners only had a handful of slaves, Angel and Horry were considered economic elite and were called slave magnates.
Slaves were simply labor to Angel and Horry, and they considered them property, hunting down runaway slaves and punishing misbehaving ones. While there is no evidence that they treated their slaves more harshly than other slave owners, they were known to own them strictly for business purposes. They bought, sold, and traded them like property, and misbehaving slaves were punished harshly for interfering with profits.
8. Nat Butler makes this list for the special type of manipulative cruelty that he showed toward his fellow humans. Butler was one of the worst kinds of slave owners. Not only did he participate in the trade, but he actively tricked slaves into running away so that he could sell them back to their masters.
Butler would convince a slave to hide out on his property. Butler would then speak to the slave’s owner to find out what the reward was for returning him. If the reward was high, he would simply return the slave for the money. If the price was low, Butler would buy the slave then resell him to slave dealers down south for a profit. He gained a bad reputation in his county for his scheming actions, and many attempted to hurt and even murder him for revenge.
9. Jacob Gasken was born free only because his mother was a free woman. His father was still a slave at the time of his birth. This was rather common at the time, and the mother eventually wanted to buy Jacob’s father so that he would no longer have to work as a slave on a plantation. When Jacob grew older, his mother helped him to buy his father. The family was happy with this arrangement, although the father was technically still their slave until he attempted to do what all parents do: reprimand his son. This is when this story becomes notable.
One day, Jacob’s father scolded him after Jacob had misbehaved (as any good father would do). Jacob, a petulant, entitled boy, became so angry with his father that he sold him to a New Orleans trader and then later bragged to his friends and colleagues about sending his own father to be a slave on a plantation in Louisiana to “learn him some manners."
10. Dilsey Pope was born a free woman, and when she was older, she bought the man she loved in order to marry him. Many state laws at the time would not allow slaves to be emancipated, so it was common for family or spouses to technically own their family. Dilsy owned her own house and land, and she also hired her husband out as labor.
What makes this particular situation so unique is that when Dilsey and her husband had a fight, Dilsey sold him to her white neighbor out of spite. While many modern women might wish to get rid of their husbands, Dilsey truly takes the cake when it comes to method. Also like many other spouses, she later felt bad about the argument and tried to reconcile. The only problem was that when she went buy her husband back and apologize, her neighbor refused to sell him

I contacted a radio host by the name of Lance Scurvin telling him one of my platforms are the homeless. I found Mr Lance Scurvin by a YouTube Video he had on the Homeless of Florida and he invited me on his show. Before the show I went over my background and he asked if I needed certain questions to be asked. I basically said no just the facts on the homeless and Veterans. He asked if I want a questions from the audience or answer questions. I basically told him as long as it consisted part of the what I was talking about and my existing platform. He said no problem.

Everything on the show was running smoothly. I treated Mr Lance Scurvin with the utmost respect and then he turned on me. He told me how a Jewish teacher, who did not hit him or call him names, refused to teach the Black Wall Street when it was not in the history books and not part of the school program. I said what does this have to do with me? I was extremely confused on how and why this came up. He began to yell at me accusing me of this history not existing in New York City's education program stating his mother went to the teacher and demanded this to be taught. I said she needed to go to the board not the teacher and he changed the subject to another demand: REPARATION. Reparation is the making of amends for a wrong one has done, by paying money to or otherwise helping those who have been wronged. During the Civil War, thousands of Union Soldiers died in the North fighting the South freeing the Slaves. After the Civil War, the slave owners were forced to give the land which the slave worked to them. The land was divided up equally, whether the slaves stayed or not was not the question. Many of the slaves moved up to the North and were treated well.
Today's Black “activists” call it the "Black Holocaust" which is an insult to European Jews who suffered with a government (Nazi Germany) who took away homes and money, who placed people in Concentration Camps, fed them hot but watered down soup with moldy bread once a day. They were forced to kill people in gas chambers, take their bodies, and bury them in mass graves or burn the bodies in cremation ovens. Many had to strangle their own children to death so they would not have to suffer under the hands of the Nazis. The children who were born in the Concentration Camps were thrown up in the air and shot in target practice and their mothers were forced to watch this death. Babi Yar is a ravine in the Ukrainian capital Kiev and a site of massacres carried out by German forces and by local Ukrainian collaborators during their campaign against the Soviet Union in World War II. The first and best documented of the massacres took place 29–30 September 1941, killing 33,771 Jews. The Bila Tserkva massacre was the World War II mass murder of Jews, committed by the Nazi GermanEinsatzgruppe with the aid of Ukrainian auxiliaries,in Bila Tserkva, Soviet Ukraine, on August 21–22, 1941. When the Jewish adult population of Bila Tserkva was killed, several functionaries complained that some 90 Jewish children were left behind in an abandoned building, and had to be executed separately. This is just a sample of what Nazi Germany did to the Jews.

The hijackers had the stated objective to free 40 Palestinian and affiliated militants imprisoned in Israel and 13 prisoners in four other countries in exchange for the hostages. The flight, which had originated in Tel Aviv with the destination of Paris, was diverted after a stopover in Athens via Benghazi to Entebbe, the main airport of Uganda. The Ugandan government supported the hijackers, and dictator Idi Amin personally welcomed them. After moving all hostages from the aircraft to a disused airport building, the hijackers separated all Israelis and several non-Israeli Jews from the larger group and forced them into a separate room.. Over the following two days, 148 non-Israeli hostages were released and flown out to Paris. Now what does Mr Scurvin do? He is a driver on Lynx in Orlando with bus route 21. He calls Lynx who gave him a job slave owners and he works on a Plantation. But he gets paid for his work. He is not doing it in shackles. He lives in a mostly white area and says it's an okay neighborhood, He owns his own home. Bus Drivers make between $20 to $30 an hour. That is more then what bus drivers make at Disney which is $16.50 an hour. Majority of Disney cast members you see in the theme parks make $10.00 an hour. My feelings is he is such an evil man no better than Hitler. He could run that bus right into a Walmart or the Dr Phillips Hospital and blow it up. This man is as dangerous as his friend Gavin Eugene Long (who called his show). Gavin Eugene Long was outraged by the police for the Alton Sterling death. Mr Scurvin was told about this on his show and on personal conversations on his iPhone. His pseudonym name was Cosmo Setepenra. Long was a Member of the Nation of Islam. Mr Scurvin has many leaders of the Nation of Islam on his show and he slants most of his themes against Christianity and Judaism.
To after listening to his shows and seeing who he had in his Youtube I feel he is part of the Nation of Islam. If you remember I posted a video for Judicial Watch of a Murder of a police officer in the Mosque of the Nation of Islam.

When I was in 1st grade I had a Black teacher named Mrs Dorsey. I had balance problems, since at that time they did not know Multiple Sclerosis begins at that age. I would fall, bump into things, and scrape my knees to the point they would become infected. My doctor suggested to my mother to place pants on me under my skirts and dresses. A note was given to the principal, the nurse, and Mrs Dorsey. I was coming home with major headaches and my mother could not understand why I was so sick. My brother attended the same school as I did. The boys bathroom entrance was right next door to my classroom. My brother saw Mrs Dorsey drag me by my hair screaming at the top of her voice "you white Jew bitch you think you are special wearing those pants to school. I told you to take them off!" My brother ran into the classroom and pulled Mrs Dorsey off of me and took me to the nurse where they discovered I had a concussion from the mistreatment of this Black Teacher. The Principal was called in on this and I sat in his office waiting for my parents to pick me up. I remember my mom took me upstairs to the classroom to get my coat along with my brother. She said point out who did this to you and not to be scared. So I pointed to Mrs Dorsey. My Mom walked over to her and said why did you drag my daughter by her hair to the coat closet? Her excuse was she was having a bad day. My Mom removed me and my brother from that school and placed us in a religious Jewish School. She had this teacher Mrs Dorsey arrested and sued her.
Now Mr Lance Scurvin thought this was so funny he wrote about it like it was my fault, that I started this when I was the one who was being Child abused by this teacher. I guess Mr Scurvin thinks it is okay for children to be abused by anyone. Maybe being connected to the Nation of Islam caused him to lose some human dignity since it is okay for Muslims to beat women and female children especially if they are infidels.
Mr Lance Scurvin and his listeners stated I don't look Jewish, I have blue eyes, I was born as a strawberry blonde baby and had light blondish hair all my life. I can not help if someone in my family was raped by a crusader and I am the results of that rape. But then on the other hand Mr Lance Scurvin is using the Hitler profile of what a Jew is suppose to look like with a long nose, brown eyes and dark hair, I just described the majority of the people who live in Saudi Arabia. Mr Lance Scurvin sounds to me like a very disturbed person similar to Hitler. He thinks anyone who does not have terroristic thoughts is his enemy. He also stated he plans to move to Africa. If Africa is so wonderful then Uganda would be a great start for him, He may even experience the real slavery of Africa brought to Libya and sold on the market then castrated. Black Muslims kept separatist views low-key in Orlando
They started by meeting in a small home in the Parramore neighborhood during the 1950s — black men and women who converted from Christianity to a brand of Islam that emphasized self-respect, self-sufficiency and a strict code of morality. No smoking, no drinking, no extramarital sex.
They were low-key, but distinct: men with nice haircuts, always dressed in suits and ties.
Today, on the 50th anniversary of the death of Malcolm X, the Nation of Islam no longer exists in Orlando. But during the '50s and '60s, its members were active within Orlando's black community and distinguished themselves by rejecting integration and desegregation in favor of separatism.
"A lot of white people agreed with what we were doing — we talked separation, not integration," said Abdul Rahman Muhammad, 84, who oversaw the state's largest Nation of Islam temple in Miami, where the fighter Cassius Clay trained and later converted to the Nation of Islam as Muhammad Ali." Over time, the number of Nation of Islam members in Orlando grew to about 200, enough to open a mosque in the Parramore district, said Vibert White, a University of Central Florida history professor who has spent three years researching the Nation of Islam in Florida.
"They come in under the shadows of the civil rights movement, and they are quiet," White said. "They couldn't be as outspoken as they were in New York or Chicago because they would get killed."
Founded in 1930, the Nation of Islam rejected Christianity as the religion of white supremacy and created an ideology of black supremacy. Whites were portrayed as the incarnation of evil. Now under the leadership of Louis Farrakhan, the Nation of Islam is still considered a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center in Montgomery, Ala.
The Nation of Islam members living in Orlando practiced separation rather than confrontation, White said. They separated themselves from the white community and the black community that was protesting and demonstrating for civil rights.
"These people were peaceful. They worked among themselves," White said. "They were more concerned with creating an ideology that was suited to their self-worth, nationalism and peaceful coexistence with the larger white community."
Fifty years ago, the Nation of Islam was creating self-sustaining businesses independent from the larger white community. In other parts of Florida and the nation, they had farms, restaurants, grocery stores, publishing companies, trucking firms, schools and universities.
In Orlando, they operated a fish market. All Nation of Islam businesses identified themselves with the pronoun "Your": Your Bakery, Your Grocery, Your Restaurant.
"That was the code word. They never used the name Nation of Islam. If you lived in the community, you knew what they were talking about," White said.
Black Muslims were visible on Orlando street corners hawking Nation of Islam publications and going door-to-door selling eggs and fish. But they made their reputation within the community opposing drugs and prostitution and going into the prisons to convert convicts.
"A lot of people respected us because they saw what we were doing in the community," said Abdul B. Shabazz, 74, who converted from Baptist to the Nation of Islam in 1966 while living in Rochester, N.Y.
The appeal of the Nation of Islam was simple: Blacks can achieve the same success as whites without subjugating themselves.
"You don't need to beg and get your brains beat out to get a hamburger and a cup of coffee," said Shabazz. "You don't need to go where you are not wanted."
But the tide of history was toward desegregation and integration, and away from separate and equal.
By the time Shabazz moved to Orlando in 1973, the Nation of Islam had disappeared from Central Florida. He found only one other Black Muslim member, but eventually they met others and converted enough to form a small group of about 50 who met at a community center in Washington Shores.
Over time, those introduced to Islam through the Nation of Islam became traditional Muslims and adopted the teaching that all races are equal. Shabazz joined that migration and today worships in a mosque in Parramore attended by blacks, whites, Hispanics, Arabs and Asians.
"The Nation of Islam was the birthplace for black people to become Islamic. It was a transitional phase," he said. "We are doing the same things as Muslims around the world. We pray the same time, fast the same time, learn to study the Quran."
Shabazz has kept his Nation of Islam name and still refers to his birth name as his "slave name." He credits the Nation of Islam as a faith that gave him a sense of dignity, self-worth and moral strength.

A former professor at University of Central Florida in Orlando, Vibert White, has sued the university, claiming he suffered discrimination — and ultimately was forced to resign in 2015 — because he is black and Muslim, and because he proposed recruiting more black and Muslim students to the school.
UCF has an Islamic Studies program, which it launched in 2011, and a Middle East Studies program. But White accuses the university of rebuffing him when he tried years earlier to get that program started.
In response to the lawsuit, UCF spokesman Chad Binette pointed out the two academic programs that the school has embraced and that White resigned.
“We believe his claims have no merit,” Binette said.
The suit says White “received a number of threats that were hateful, racist, and anti-religious attacking his free speech and teaching in person and through e-mail.” White alleges in the suit that the university ignored his requests for help with the problem. He also claims retaliation after he complained.
White’s attorneys are from the Florida chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR. Attempts to reach CAIR regarding the lawsuit were not successful.
White says he is African-American and of Afro-Latino descent, and a “devout Islamic scholar.” He claims in the lawsuit that Fernandez called him a “militant extremist.”
White’s lawsuit alleges continual attacks against him and claims they were witnessed, but it mentions few specific incidents.
The lawsuit says UCF suspended White in 2014 for sending students to an event, but doesn’t say what event. The suit alleges the event was directly related to coursework. Another threatened suspension in 2013 had to do with White allowing students to take home a final exam, but the suit says that suspension was called off after White got attorneys involved.
White was known for researching the Nation of Islam’s history in Central Florida — an African-American movement that famed boxer Muhammad Ali joined.
White previously told the Sentinel that Orlando’s version of the Islamic movement was not violent and believed blacks shouldn’t smoke or drink or have extra-marital sex, and that they should live separate and independent from white people.
White is also naming university administrators as defendants in the lawsuit, individually and in their roles at the school: John Sacher, chairman of the History Department; Jose Fernandez, dean of the College of Arts & Humanities; and Nancy Stanlick, associate dean and director of research in the College of Arts & Humanities.
