Fareed Mumuni, who is accused of providing material support to the terrorist group, was living just 600 yards from Jermaine Culver in Staten Island, New York, when he was knifed on January 9, 2015, as he walked to school.
The youngster survived the attack and ran away, but was forced to move to Atlanta with his grandmother because he was too afraid to go back out onto the streets.

Fareed Mumuni, a student who allegedly plotted a bomb attack on Times Square, may have stabbed nine-year old Jaermaine Culver in the neck in Staten Island, New York, as part of a botched audition to join ISIS, police have claimed
Mumuni, 21, has never been officially named as a suspect, but NYPD sources have told the New York Post the feds are getting in the way of their investigation.
Detectives have said he is a 'person of interest' and have a theory it was a trial for the Middle Eastern militant organisation.
One source told the newspaper: 'If you look at the video, it looks like he was trying to slit his throat.'
Officers also believe he resembles the man who was caught on CCTV attacking the youngster.
Mumini was arrested on terrorism charges after he allegedly stabbed a FBI agent multiple times with a kitchen knife while they were executing a search warrant on his home, prosecutors said.

He also allegedly tried to grab another agent’s rifle during the incident. Authorities said another large knife was recovered inside his car.
The officer survived, but Mumuni is still facing 85 years in prison for his purported crimes.
Both and and Muther Omar Saleh allegedly planned to attack in the United States.
One of their purported plans was use a pressure cooker bomb in New York City on behalf of ISIS
When he was apprehended, Assistant Attorney General Carlin said: 'According to the indictment, Munther Omar Saleh and Fareed Mumuni conspired to provide material support to ISIL and devised a plan to conduct an attack in New York.
'During his arrest, Mumuni stabbed an FBI agent numerous times, but thankfully the agent’s body armor protected him from the defendant’s attack and the defendant was safely apprehended by law enforcement.

The attack in January was captured on a neighbor's surveillance camera. Police say the man seen carrying out the vicious attack fits Mumuni's description

'Counterterrorism is the National Security Division’s highest priority and we will continue to seek justice against those who conspire to provide material support to designated foreign terrorist organizations – and we will relentlessly pursue any individuals who attempt to harm the brave law enforcement officials who risk their lives to protect us.
Acting U.S. Attorney Currie said: 'Both Munther Omar Saleh and Fareed Mumuni allegedly conspired to provide material support to ISIL. Both men also attacked law enforcement officers who work to keep our communities safe.
'The officers exercised extraordinary skill and restraint in safely subduing the defendants, who will now face the full force of justice in federal court

An alleged jihadist arrested in June on charges that he plotted to blow up Times Square may also be the fiend who stabbed a 9-year-old Staten Island boy in the neck five months earlier in what some investigators now believe was a botched ISIS audition.
But NYPD detectives investigating the Jan. 9 knife attack have been frustrated by the feds, who won’t give them access to terror suspect Fareed Mumuni, said a source familiar with the probe.

 Fareed Mumuni,
Mumuni, 21, lived only 600 yards from Jermaine Culver, who was stabbed as he walked to school in the Mariners Harbor section of Staten Island.
A surveillance camera on a home across the street captured a stocky attacker as he stalked the boy from behind on Union Avenue before grabbing him around the neck and stabbing him in his back, head, neck and arm.
Jermaine is seen stumbling a few steps before he regains his footing and runs.
“It looks like he’s trying to kill that kid,” said Luis Padilla, 44, the home’s owner. “He went straight for the jugular.”
Following the savagery, Jermaine was afraid to leave the hospital. The shell-shocked boy was eventually sent to live with an aunt in Atlanta.
“But he’s alive and fine and well,” said his 21-year-old brother, Shawn Williams.
Williams said the family remains in the dark about his case a year later.
“We still don’t know,” he said. “It seems like the cops gave up on it.”

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — A grand jury in Brooklyn has indicted two New York City men accused of trying to provide support to ISIS.
Munther Omar Saleh, of Queens, is charged with attempt and conspiracy to provide material support to Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, as well as assault and conspiracy to assault federal officers.

Saleh is accused of plotting a terror attack in the New York City area. The indictment alleges the 20-year-old college student made efforts to prepare a pressure cooker bomb to detonate in New York City on behalf of ISIS.
While under investigation by federal authorities in early June, Saleh and another individual charged at a federal officer with knives.
According to court documents, Saleh also espoused jihadist beliefs online and openly supported ISIS activities via Twitter, including the Charlie Hebdo massacre in France, the burning to death of a Jordanian pilot and the beheading of a Japanese journalist. He also allegedly tweeted support for the terror attack in Garland, Texas in May.
The grand jury indictment also charges Fareed Mumuni with attempt and conspiracy to provide material support to ISIL, assault and conspiracy to assault federal officers, and attempted murder of federal officers.
Authorities said Mumuni was arrested on June 17 at his Staten Island home after repeatedly stabbing an FBI agent in the torso with a large kitchen knife during the execution of a search warrant.
None of the stabs penetrated the agent’s body armor, and he suffered only minor injuries, according to a criminal complaint.
Mumuni, 21, also allegedly tried to grab another agent’s rifle during the incident. Authorities said another large knife was recovered inside his car.
“Stabbing an FBI agent and providing material support to a designated terrorist organization are a recipe for indictment, as alleged. I commend the agents and detectives from the Manhattan-based Joint Terrorism Task Force and prosecutors in the Eastern District for their work on this case,” said Police Commissioner Bratton.
“These indictments remind us of the dangers faced by law enforcement and the community alike. The FBI remains vigilant in its pursuit against violence and restrained in its apprehension of such offenders,” FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge Diego Rodriguez said. “We are grateful for the safety of our agents and will continue to work to eliminate threats to our country with the help of our law enforcement partners.”
If convicted, Mumuni faces up to 85 years in prison. Saleh could face a maximum sentence of 65 years if convicted.
